All the Pieces are here....now to put them together...

We visited DS and family yesterday, about 1 1/2 hrs away.  Hadn't seen GD since July and she is 4 months old now! Such a difference.
Anyway, they surprised me with an early b'day present...a gift certificate for their local Hancock's.  We don't have one where I usually shop, so of course we had to go right then and use it before we drove home.

Here is what I got (and at 30% off!!)

Add that to this

and blocks like these

and I have practically all the ingredients to start putting blocks together..

Still need to search for more muslin that is hanging around here somewhere and (of course) finish the blocks.  But things are starting to come together in my mind now.

Smart to get batting when it is on sale! I do that too. I like that coffee print. Whatwillyou be doing with it? Also, are your blocks paper pieced?

I need batting like enything I'll have to order through the net,the fabric is pretty and your block real pretty, are they recycled fabrics? I love using old shirts whenever I can.

Mainer & Theodora, I don't have enough coffee fabric to finish the back, so will have to combine it with another fabric in my stash. My blocks are made up of my DHs old clothes, shirts, jeans, etc. I am not paper piecing. I haven't tried that yet. I just lay the pieces down randomly until I like the effect, use one pin to keep each in place and then start sewing them on the backing. It's a weird way of doing it, but it works for me. No telling what this is going to look like.

I LOVE your blocks with your husband's old clothes! I have been saving jeans, neckties and his button down type shirts for YEARS (and his old colorful boxer shorts...). He is always joking around that quilts should be made from leftovers, especially pieces from old, still good clothes. I am really liking the way your blocks are looking. So are you sewing them down with batting and backing as you make them??

(Some day, I am going to make my husband some small wall hanging for his work cubicle out of pieces of his old, colorful boxer shorts - maybe THAT will shut up his joking about how quilts should only be made like the pioneers made them!!! LOL)

In stitches,
Teresa :o)

Yes, once I decide where each block will go, then I will be sewing them together with batting and backing all at once.
