Package on its' Way

It is Tuesday evening and I have finished all of the (large) receiving blankets for my new-to-be GC.  By the time you read this, it will be traveling to its' destination....They, along with the crayola wall-hanging, didn't really take long,,,I was just my usual lazy self and didn't hurry with their creation....didn't even really quilt the blankets, only sewed a few straight lines to keep everything together.

I have taken a vacation, sort of, from blogging the last few days...Didn't even realize it until I sat down to write this post....so now I need to get to my pages and sort of catch them up again...I have been doing my 15 minutes/day quilting....That's why these are done....and my Giveaway Page is way behind and neglected .....it's nice to be able to tell you about the ones I find, though it would be nice if one of them was one you hadn't heard of.

What have I been doing, besides quilting, if I haven't been blogging???? Well, I rediscovered the front porch;  the interesting view of a bird swooping down and worrying something large in the front lawn,,,that turned out to be a relatively large snake...nonpoisonous,,,which happened to be chased toward and upon our aforementioned large front porch, where DH took his small shovel and dispensed with it....our brave dog and I hovered on the other end of the porch during this duel, afterwhich we decided that the bird was the bravest of us all...

A few days later, we met with DS and family and watched our newly upright ambulatory DGD investigate everything from sewing room to front porch.... and will see her again this weekend at her first birthday party....sandwiches and cake, small gathering,,,they are in the middle of moving...we wonder if the party is really an excuse to gather help for the move......

I have been watching DH rebuild an open trailer, replacing lumber on the bottom and sides.  The old rotted wood created too much openness for the open trailer.  I helped by standing on the various boards while he bolted them in place....my weight is good for something....

And the deer are still coming around in the side yard in the mornings....

There are two cardinals, one dominant and fighting for its' private territory, and the other stubbornly refusing to give up his right to try and take over.....

Purple martins are still flying around, but none nesting that we know of..they are fun to watch, however....

Spring and summer are too nice to be missed, even if one is quilting......

and I have just started hand quilting.....this.....

This picture was taken on New Year's Day of this year...It is a mystery quilt top which I had then completed.  It has been sitting, sandwiched, waiting for inpiration to hit.....It still hasn't hit, but I got tired of waiting....It will be interesting to see how it turns out...

Knowing how I work, one of two things will happen:  either you will not hear about this for a long time, or you will hear about it so often you will wish I had never started the project...I will try to hit a happy medium between the two...in the years to come.....

You are too funny! Enjoy your family and the nice weather. I played hooky today too - well, caught up on some housework, ventured into the next small town with my SIL for an icecream and then took cover from a storm that landed full force in Mass. - double tornado.

Enjoy your handquilting no matter how long it takes - I just love to handquilt and to see others enjoy it too.

Your front porch sounds like a wonderful place to be! Have fun handquilting while you enjoy the goings on in your yard :)

Don't we all need a break now & then? Sounds like you had a perfect "recharge" kind of time.

"Snakes? Why did it have to be snakes?" (Indiana Jones) I have some friends who teach archery, and this past week they were also visited my several looooong gopher snakes while out on the range. Guess it must just be that time of year. (No snake dispatching at the range, however)

Looking forward to see how your quilt turns out too!
